About us
Members of the Vintgar quintet proudly continue the singing tradition of the Blejska Dobrava cultural society of the same name, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023.
Our goal and our desire is to further improve and learn about the vocal literature of various musical genres. Our repertoire consists of folk and art songs, and includes genres such as renaissance, romance, various pop, gospel and folk rhythms, as well as unresearched thematic contents.
The rich genre diversity enables us to be responsive to various kinds of performances and opens up a wide field of possibilities for preparing independent concerts. In January 2019, we held an anniversary concert for our home crowd to celebrate our five-year anniversary and hosted one of the most popular Slovenian ethnic bands, the Prifarski muzikanti band. In December 2019 and January 2020, we organised a tour of advent and Christmas concerts in six Slovenian parishes. We also performed at the central Slovenian cultural institutions, the Cankarjev dom and the Slovenian Philharmonic. We also tested the acoustics of the St. Nicholas’ Cathedral in the capital, Ljubljana. We appeared as guests at concerts of vocal ensembles around Slovenia and abroad. But in the end, we always love returning home so that we can continue to enrich the cultural and social life of our local area and perform in front of our home crowd.
The statue represents the Vintgar gorge, clenching a lyre, and Radovna River running beneath it.
